J. H. Steward Verner's Patent Compass (1902) Greencard compass ballisticsAn early version of the Mark VI Verner's Patent prismatic marching compass, with the maker's mark 'J. H. Steward, London', the date 1902, and the serial number '779' engraved on the lid. This may be one of the very first Mk VI type compasses to be made, as almost all the known examples date from c. 1905 onwards. This particular example is very unusual in that it has the card degree markings and case design usually seen in both the Mk IV and Mk V
