Being an Hearth Stool, it would have been used as a resting place in front of an open fire or close to a range or grate. The timber elements are in wonderful condition. Its clearly been well looked after. I have reupholstered it using an iLiv fabric in a deeply plush carmine. The fabric is of an Art Nouveau design and is a chenille.
