Vintage Makenge Basket - 88.4 Archaeologists in our Fern Tip botanicalA vintage handwoven Makenge basket, a testament to the weaving skills of the Mbundu and Lozi people of Zambia. An original piece, traditionally used to sift the grains used in cooking you may still find a few grains embedded in the weave, a lovely mark of its authenticity. Its shallow, dish like form looks beautiful hung on a wall or laid flat on a table. How they are made: the baskets are woven from the roots of the Makenge tree, a small tree that
